Sharing the best of all the apps I’ve downloaded during the COVID-19 quarantine.
If you’re anything like me and my family you’ve been looking for ways to stay connected and interactive with the people you love. In this new "normal" I’ve stumbled upon some fun and creative ways to stay connected to my friends and family.
Some of the usual suspects like Facebook, IG and YouTube have provided some great entertainment like, Club Quarantine with DJ DNice, mini-concerts, producer battles, workshops and more. And as long as their sites aren’t crashing 🙄 you can enjoy all the stuff we’re inundated with through our usual social media channels.
For me, the fun discoveries have been in the more intimate and creative ways to engage my tribe! I’ll share a few examples here but I want your suggestions too. What are you getting in to?
Netflix Party has been the biggest surprise and one of the most fun things I’ve done. Essentially you can "go to the movies" with your friends; all from the comfort of your home. You basically get together on the computer, watch a Netflix movie and there’s a chat feature on the side so you can say all the ”oh no he didn’ts“ and “yasssssss queen yaassssss“ that you want. Best part is that there is no one in the theater to ssssshhhh you from talking and laughing with your friends. It’s SO much fun! You have to try it.
Kahoot! is another fun find. This one is GREAT for the family. You can use the zoom platform to play all kinds of trivia games with your family and friends. There are trivia games on so many topics - music, movies, sports, superheroes, pop culture etc. You can even create your own trivia questions for your group to enjoy. Zoom helps you to share your screen so all the participants see the gameboard and then they use their own devices to respond. Best part, you don't actually have to download an app to play.
Last but not least, Houseparty is another a cool one. I have actually had this app for a while but didn't fully realize all the fun features it has! Desperate times call for desperate measures right 🤷🏾♀️? So in light of the times, my hubby introduced me to the games on Houseparty! Did you know you could play Heads Up and Pictionary with your friends remotely? My hubby and I actually played a game of Pictionary - sitting right next to each other in the bed 😳 (gotta do what you gotta do right). Either way it was fun!
These are unprecedented times and many people are having a hard time with being "safe at home." People are dealing with loneliness, anxiety, trauma, depression, stress and so much more! Discovering ways to stay connected has actually been a breath of fresh air for me and my tribe and I am hoping it will be the same for you. In light of all the things going on, it's been nice to find these spots of fun and laughter.
I hope you enjoy and as always, please share what you are doing as well!
