It's been 36 hours since I attended the Renaissance Tour or better known as the Beyonce Experience and I have to say, if I could do it again, there are somethings I'd definitely do differently.
First of all let me say, Beyonce did NOT disappoint! She was Flawless (get it) 👀! From the visuals, to the costumes, to the dancers, the effects, the vocals.... I mean, I could go on and on but let me just say this, the Diva was on full display in every way!
I LOVED my experience, and the Energy was on level 1,000,000,000 so I figured I would share a few tips to make your experience amazing.
1. Plan a pre-game party before going to the concert! My friends and I hosted a Beyonce themed pregame party at my house before leaving for the concert. We had spiked Lemonade, Green Light chopped salad, Pure Honey drizzled chicken and waffles, Thique artichoke dip, Drunk-in Watermelon Love and more. It was a good time and it helped us to avoid waiting in the long lines at the stadium and spending an arm and a pinky toe on food and drinks!
2. Dress for the occasion! Listen, the Beehive was in Formation and if you don't come correct, you will definitely be an outlier. I saw ALL KINDS of outfits! People had feathers, sequins, cowboy hats, catsuits, short shots, and more. It does NOT have to be silver, nor does it HAVE to be metallic. Just dress like you might meet Beyonce and you want her to compliment your fit. LOL
Here are some items to consider for your wardrobe:
MAJOR CAUTION: I would NOT recommend wearing heels! True story, as we were leaving the stadium, a woman was walking barefoot and her feet were bleeding from wearing heels, walking the length of a stadium to get from the parking lot to her seat, and back, etc. I know heels are cute but unless you plan to sit on your behind the entire concert, I would caution you to NOT wear high heels or any type of shoe you would find uncomfortable. Don't Hurt Yourself!
Comfy shoes to consider for the occasion:
3. Don't arrive early! My ticket for the Renaissance Tour said 8pm and although we like to Party Beyonce took her sweet time and had us Countdown the minutes and seconds it took her to start the show which wasn't until almost 9:30PM. While I wouldn't recommend chancing it and coming an hour after your ticket time, I would say, don't show up too early. which leads to my most frequently asked question... Is there an opening act....
4. The answer is NO! Beyonce is the opening, the main event and the closer! She was like no thanks 1+1 = 1 and that's Queen Bey. So while we waited for her to start, we got Cozy in our seats and took lots of selfies while we waited.
5. Check the bag policy of the concert venue beforehand. There were hundreds of people, standing in line after the concert was over, waiting to retrieve their bags that they were forced to check because it didn't meet the guidelines. Trust me, when the concert ends at midnight, the last thing you're going to want to do is have to wait for a bag! Just Check On It first and know what the restrictions are so you can be prepared.
If you need a clear bag, here are some options to consider:
6. The Renaissance show is a non stop, action packed experience. Beyonce and her crew perform for 2.5 hours straight and while she takes mini intermissions - there is NOT enough time to go get food or go to the bathroom. My friend and I tried to run to the bathroom during one of these breaks and then started sprinting back because we heard Run the World start to play. So while you're waiting for the show to start, that's the perfect opportunity to grab everything you need and get to your seat so you can take out your Video Phone and record all the amazing moments.
7. Make sure you bring your fan!!! Because when the song Heated comes on, you'll be Jealous if everyone else is in formation and you're not. This type of fan I am referring to is not about function, it's a prop! LOL. At one point before Beyonce performed the song she said y'all get your fans out! I was ready!!! It was one of my favorite parts of the concert. You can definitely purchase a fan from their merchandise vendors or you can get one in advance. Here are some options:
8. There are a few key essentials you're going to want to pack in your bag:
Portable light so that when you want to record yourself singing All Night you'll at least not be in the dark
Portable charger! My battery was near death from all of the videos and selfies and the long wait to get there. So I was glad I packed my portable charger
Ear plugs 👀. This may be unpopular but I could have used some of these. It was LOUD! And I Love Beyonce but ummmmmmm I wanna be able to hear my grandkids in the future 😂.
9. Plan and arrange your transportation in advance. There were 6 of us going to the concert and we rented a party bus to take us. This was so fun because we played Beyonce songs the entire time and we danced, sang, and had our refreshments on the way to the concert and didn't have to worry about driving, parking, dealing with traffic... It definitely helped to create an Irreplaceable experience.
10. Although Beyonce did perform Crazy in Love... There were no sightings of Mr. Carter. I was hoping for a cameo since we were in the NY area but... Spoiler Alert... he was not there! It was all about Beyonce and Blue and in true superstar fashion, Blue Ivy Carter Slayed her performance!!!
Whew, there is so much more to say but let me know what else you'd want to know about attending the tour!
